Monday, 25 September 2006 |
Effective from 8 August 2006, Electrodata has appointed a new Managing Director, Mr Mark Player. The company founder and owner, Dr Stanley Baker, has retired as CEO, from the day-to-day operations of the business. Stan will remain as non-executive Chairman of the board. Dr Baker said, “Mr Player's appointment is the start of a new phase for Electrodata. Mark brings many fresh ideas that I expect will make a significant contribution to the growth of the company. His vitality, enthusiasm and leadership will be the catalyst in taking Electrodata to the next level.â€
“Over the years we have been through many technology transitions and Electrodata has always been a market-leader. Of course, I will be actively involved in the strategic development of the company. Whilst the market is quite flat at present, we see many opportunities for expansion, particularly in export.†Mr Player said, “It is a great honour to be given this responsibility. Dr Baker has accepted my vision for the future of Electrodata. I am excited to be involved with such a dynamic group of people, and look forward to implementing a strategy focussed on quality and growth.†Prior to joining Electrodata, Mr Player was with Alcatel for over 20 years, in Australia and Europe, in various management positions in telecommunications software development and system design. Mr Player was also with Open Telecommunications, as a VoIP Product Manager. In Electrodata he has experience in all aspects of the business, most recently being responsible for growing export sales through reseller channels. Dr Baker started Electrodata in 1970 and is today considered as the "grand old man" of communications recording. Based on his Ph.D. research at the University of NSW in the 60's, Stan helped design and build the company's reel-to-reel voice recording products from 1970 to 1990. He then assisted in the transition of the technology base of the company into the present digital era.
